You are viewing paintings on canvas, using a reactive paint that is oxidized into real rust and blue/green patinas, making heavy use of metallic paints (bronze, gold, copper, and highly reflective silver) along with standard acrylic paints. Often, a variety of gel pastes and mediums are integrated at various stages, giving some of the work a dramatic, almost sculptural, textured appearance. The reactive paint and/or paste and gels are applied, working in layers, (sometimes 20+) building up and breaking down until the desired look is achieved. Completion always depends on how each layer interacts with the next, which is unpredictable (fun) and is the favorite part of the creative process.    

Achievements include “The Award of Excellence” at The Edina Art Fair 2009, “Best of Show” at Maple Grove Arbor Lakes 2009, Third place in painting at the Stone Arch Festival of The Arts 2008 and having work accepted into prestigious fine art galleries in Minnesota such as Gallery 360 in Minneapolis, Your Art’s Desire in Minnetonka, MN, Visual Arts at IMS (International Market Square) in Minneapolis, and Expressive Arts in Waconia, MN.
